Methylation of the Ly86 gene has been associated with obesity, insulin resistance, and inflammatory markers [45]. Although there are only a few studies on the Ly86 gene, given ethanol’s effects on inflammation, it is possible that ethanol could affect expression of the Ly86 gene as well.
