6. Oscillatory neural tissue selectively distributed throughout the brain is activated by sensory-cognitive input. Such oscillatory activity can be described by a number of response parameters — enhancement (amplitude), delay (latency), blocking or desynchronization, prolongation (duration), degree of coherence between different oscillations, degree of entropy — that are differently configured depending on the particular task and the functions which that task elicits.47-60 In other words, the brain uses the same frequency range to perform not just one but multiple functions.
