There were considerable differences in gene expression between individual mice within each treatment group. However, expression was often highly correlated between genes in the same family for the individual mice in the four treatment groups (Acot1/Acot4, r2=0.87; Cyp4a10/Cyp4a14, r2=0.92), confirming expected co-regulation. These correlations further extended to PPARα-regulated genes in different families (Acot1/Cyp4a10, r2=0.98) (Figure 6B).
