Text

Adolescents’ perceptions of social and family support were assessed with the Perceived Social Support from Family scale (PSS-Fa) (Procidano and Heller 1983). The PSS-Fa is a 20-item self-report scale with excellent internal consistency (.88) and concurrent validity (Cumsille and Epstein 1994). Sample items include: “My family gives me the moral support I need” and “There is a member of my family I could go to if I were just feeling down, without feeling funny about it later.”
