While these findings need to be confirmed with additional clinical trials that include individuals of AI/AN ancestry, and larger sample sizes, NTX treatment may be a promising pharmacologic treatment to pursue in individuals of AI/AN ancestry who suffer disproportionately from lifetime alcohol dependence and heavy drinking relative to individuals of other ancestries in the United States.56
