It must be emphasized that the analysis of the relations between covariance matrices as presented in this study provides no direct information about which elements of the matrices, i.e. which specific sets of coherence pairs, account for the developmental features obtained from the analysis. Topographical specificity can only be obtained by analysis from topographically specific submatrices or from the individual covariance trajectories themselves. A subsequent study will undertake that project in the framework provided by the results outlined below.
