Several important male-selective genes, which demonstrated substantially increased expression in Cyp1b1-ko mice on the LFD, retained these stimulations in the female group, despite their lower expression. These genes include Cyp7b1, Hsd3b4, Slco1a1, Egfr, adropin and Socs2. Adropin, a peptide associated with insulin sensitivity and protection from liver steotosis, is secreted from hepatocytes [66]. Adropin expression correlates well with Cyp7b1 in individual mice for the male and female treatment cohorts suggesting similar regulation (Figure 7A).
