Recruitment was conducted at each of the two facilities by checking the admission log on a daily basis for age and gender appropriate candidates. Recruitment targeted enrollment of at least 20 patients in each of the following four groups: women age 50–64, women age 65 and older, men age 50–64, and men age 65 and older preferably balanced the across two treatment centers. After signing consent, a baseline assessment was conducted to assure eligibility. Participants were then asked to complete a daily diary for each day of their residential stay. To ensure that the diaries were completed daily, staff from program collected the diaries each day. This also served as a reminder to complete the diaries.
