One and 6 months after discharge from the residential program, staff who were blinded to the daily diary data, contacted each participant by telephone to complete the follow-up assessment. Telephone assessment was the preferred method because subjects were geographically dispersed across the country and mailed self-assessment would have been the only practical alternative.
