The hepatic lipid droplets increased in size in the WT female mice between 11 and 36 weeks of HFD exposure (Figure 5D), but were scarcely detectable at either time point in the Cyp1b1-ko mice. Small vacuoles were also evident in the sinusoidal region of WT mice on the LFD, but were appreciably decreased in Cyp1b1-ko mice (Figure S4B). This may reflect effects of Cyp1b1 deletion on sinusoidal morphology [42], since there are no differences in levels of liver triglycerides on the LFD. This extensive attenuation of hepatocyte lipid droplets is a more general phenotypic characteristic of Cyp1b1-ko mice than suppressed adipose volume.
