cis-eQTL analysis showed that rs2173201 between ADH1B and ADH1C, and rs4478858 at SERINC2 (10) had nominally significant regulatory effects on the expression of ADH1C and SERINC2 transcripts, respectively, in human brain (p=0.044 for rs2173201, and p=0.024 for rs4478858) and/or PBMC samples (p=0.026 for rs4478858). Six ADH markers had nominally significant regulatory effects on the expression of ADH transcripts in the HapMap CEU parent sample (2.7×10−6≤p≤0.024). All of the 5 SNPs at KIAA0040 had nominally significant regulatory effects on the expression of KIAA0040 transcripts across 2 to 5 HapMap samples (2.0×10−4≤p≤0.028). rs2842576 at NRD1 had a nominally significant regulatory effect on the expression of NRD1 in HapMap YRI parent sample (p=0.028). rs7916403 at HTR7 had nominally significant regulatory effects on the expression of HTR7 in both HapMap CEU samples (p=0.017 in CEU Children population and 9.7×10−3 in CEU Parent population, respectively) (Table 2). After correction for multiple testing, many of these effects remained significant (α=1.3×10−3).
