When the expression of the aforementioned candidate genes was examined in the brains of mouse and rat, the results in Table 3 were obtained. The only Adh gene expressed in rodent brain tissue was Adh5. One can consider this gene as part of the Adh cluster. The qualitative levels of expression of the other candidate genes in rodent brains are displayed in Table 3. The genes that had expression levels above background (FPKM>1) included SERINC2, MREG, PECR, PKNOX2, NRD1, GPD1L, MAP3K9, PCNX, HTR7 and OPA3. Other genes that were not detected in rodent brains included KIAA0040 and CMTM8.
