within or between five loci were found to be suggestively (5×10−8<p<10−5) associated with alcohol dependence in some samples, and nominally replicable in other samples (p<0.05). They were Nardilysin gene (NRD1) on Chr1 (11, 22), glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase 1-like gene (GPD1L) and CKLF-like MARVEL transmembrane domain containing 8 gene (CMTM8) on Chr3 (33), mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase 9 gene (MAP3K9) and pecanex homolog gene (PCNX) on Chr14 (32). Finally, two loci were found to be nominally associated with alcohol dependence across at least three independent GWAS samples (10−5<p<0.05). They were 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin) receptor 7 gene (HTR7) on Chr10 (12, 38) and optic atrophy 3 gene (OPA3) on Chr19 (23, 39) (Table 1).
