Of the three other regions highlighted by the French scan109, none can be confirmed by our data. The SNP in SLC30A8 associated with T2D in the French report (rs13266634) is poorly correlated with SNPs on the Affymetrix chip (r2<0.01), and extensive recombination events in the region limit the value of data-imputation methods. Coverage of the LOC387761 and EXT2 signals is considerably better, but, for these, neither genotyped nor imputed SNPs show evidence fo association with T2D.
