expressed. The strongest signal (from rs182211455, p=1.89 × 10−5) is intronic. SNPs 5’ to that marker have similar p-values; they are in relatively low LD (r2<0.2) with rs182211455 and therefore may represent independent signals. Finally, TBCE (p=8.52 × 10−6) is also widely expressed; it is involved in the folding of beta-tubulin. The signals in TBCE are distributed widely across the gene, but are of modest significance (largely p~0.01). To our knowledge, none of these genes have been previously associated with alcohol-related outcomes; of these four genes, only TBCE exhibited a trend toward significance in an independent sample (p=0.09; see Supplementary Material). A complete list of gene-based results is available in Table S1; the genes with q<0.10 are listed in Table 1.
