Table 5 presents cross-sectional (top portion of the table) and prospective (bottom half of the table) correlations of LR measures with the 2 key outcomes after considering relevant covariates. Proband and offspring correlations both controlled for impulsivity and sensation seeking in all analyses; for both generations, the prospective correlations controlled for Time 1 maximum drinks or number of alcohol problems; and the proband analyses controlled for age, while the offspring analyses controlled for sex. Beginning with the proband data in the first 2 data columns, after considering covariates alcohol challenge and all four SRE LR measures correlated significantly with cross-sectional maximum drinks, and for the number of AUD problems endorsed, all LR values except for SRE-5 were significant. For prospective analyses, alcohol challenge and all SRE scores except for SRE-5 correlated significantly with future maximum quantities, but only the challenge and SRE-3 LRs were significantly related to future alcohol problems. Data for offspring are given in the final 2 columns where the patterns of results were similar to those described for probands, but with more robust correlations for the younger generation.
