The hierarchical multiple regression analysis results presented in Table 6 evaluate how each LR measure related to the cross-sectional and prospective prediction of the outcomes when the LR measures and the covariates were all included in the same equation. Table 6 results do not include SRE-T scores because that total value is composed of an average across SRE-5, SRE-3, and SRE-H. The data in the top half of the table give results of cross-sectional hierarchical regression analyses, and the lower half of the table focuses on prospective analyses. Both upper and lower portions of Table 6 first present regression results for probands in the first 2 data columns followed by results for offspring in the last 2 data columns. For each group, data are first given for equations that predict maximum drinks and then data for the prediction of the number of DSM-IV criteria endorsed. Each regression analysis is structured so that the same covariates used in Table 5 are entered in Step 1, after which Step 2 evaluates the contributions of those covariates and the LR measures in predicting cross-sectional and prospective values for the prior 5-year maximum drinks and the number of DSM-IV AUD criteria endorsed.
