Text

The data in Tables 1–5 present analyses that led up to Table 6 where we describe 2 different populations in a single paper. Within each generation, the outcomes of the cross-sectional and prospective analyses were different as they were measured at Time 1 and Time 2, respectively. However, a concern remains that the consideration of 2 different outcomes (maximum drinks and alcohol problems) might require corrections for multiple comparisons. Focusing on the overarching question of whether relationships between multiple SRE and alcohol challenge LR values increment over the covariates in predicting maximum drinks and alcohol problems, a Bonferroni correction would require a p-value of.025 or better for the R2 change. That benchmark is exceeded for all proband analyses and the cross-sectional analyses for offspring. Regarding the offspring prospective analyses, the p-value for the R2 change for maximum drinks does not meet the p < 0.025 required by the Bonferroni correction, and the p-value for the R2 change for the number of AUD criteria was not initially <0.05.
