SH3BP5, which was also differentially expressed in alcoholics compared to controls, was identified in 2 GWAS related to alcohol dependence (Bierut et al., 2010; Johnson et al., 2011) and has been replicated recently in alcohol and nicotine co-dependence (Zuo et al., 2012b).
