EPHB1 (ephrin receptor B1) is associated with alcoholism (Edenberg et al., 2010; Kendler et al., 2011) and also shown to differ in expression in frontal cortex of alcoholics (Liu et al., 2007). SH3BP5, which was also differentially expressed in alcoholics compared to controls, was identified in 2 GWAS related to alcohol dependence (Bierut et al., 2010; Johnson et al., 2011) and has been replicated recently in alcohol and nicotine co-dependence (Zuo et al., 2012b).
