In Figure 8 which illustrates sex differences by region (left column) and regional differences by sex (right column), it is clear that sex differences by region are small compared to regional differences in each sex. In the right column, the difference between the regions is most significant along the first axis, which represents the initial to final progression, with the anterior progressions strikingly larger than the than the posterior progressions for both sexes. In the left column, this is reflected in the that the range of values for the y axis is considerable less in the posterior region than in the anterior region. This is the result of the factor that there is far less age-related variability in the covariances between posterior coherence pairs than between anterior coherence pairs.
