To avoid the stress associated with a major fasting intervention, we routinely measured early morning (7:30-9 AM), non-fasted glucose levels in the WT and Cyp1b1-ko mice after 5 and 10 weeks on the HFD. Tail vein blood levels were measured using a standard glucometer (One-touch Ultra 2, Milpitas, CA). Despite the appreciable BW gain between weeks 5 and 10 of HFD exposure, the blood glucose levels for each mouse remained within 10 percent, suggesting that larger differences were not due to stress or feeding variability.
