G. Sample 7) WTCCC bipolar disease vs control: Genome wide association for bipolar disorder compared controls to 1868 UK individuals of European descent with bipolar disorders [1]. Bipolar mood disorders were diagnosed using Research Diagnostic Criteria. Uncharacterized control samples include: a) 1480 individuals from a 1958 Birth Cohort sample b) 1458 individuals from a United Kingdom Blood Service sample of consenting blood donors and c) individuals with disease phenotypes whose genetics was deemed unlikely to overlap with the genetics of bipolar disorder [1].
