In examining the relationship of demographic characteristics, psychiatric and cannabis use history to cannabis withdrawal symptoms in the full sample of frequent cannabis users (Table 4), gender was associated with both the weakness symptoms and the anxiety/depression symptoms. Duration of heaviest use (less than one year) was significantly related to both types of withdrawal symptoms. Major depressive disorder was associated with anxiety/depression symptoms but was unrelated to weakness symptoms. Generalized anxiety disorder was unrelated to cannabis withdrawal symptoms, panic disorder was associated only with anxiety/depression withdrawal symptoms, and personality disorder was associated with both types of withdrawal symptoms.
