For participants endorsing SA or NSSI, additional questions were asked including the method used in the most serious SA (e.g., medication ingestion, hanging, etc.) as well as the individual’s emotional/behavioral state prior to the SA (i.e., feeling depressed, drinking heavily, feeling extremely good or high, using drugs, having strange thoughts or experiences or seeing visions).
