Addressing return of IFs and IRRs in the context of genetic and genomic research involving biobanks requires going beyond the current literature on return of findings in individual research projects. Considering the entire biobank research system is essential, including the three major actors: primary researchers (or collection sites), the biobank itself, and secondary researchers. All have the potential to generate returnable IFs and IRRs.
