In alcoholics who also abused cocaine, the side effects reported were similar to those reported with the alcoholic only population [65]. In their review of the safety of disulfiram in randomized clinical trials, the authors concluded that use of disulfiram was effective and safe because of adequate medical monitoring. This included attention to comorbid disorders, drug interactions, appropriate dosage, supervision, and clear patient instructions.
