the reward is within the subject’s reach, and the subject must choose which board covers the reward. Another task, referred to as delayed alternation (DA), is similar except that the subject must now learn to alternate its responses from left to right. In this task, the subject must learn to inhibit previously rewarded responses so that it can make the correct choice on subsequent trials (e.g., it must be able to remember that the reward is hidden on the right, even if it had been hidden on the left in the previous trial).
