More percent total time in microstates of class A has also been reported in patients with schizophrenia [36], [50]. A previous study hypothesized that anxiety is an integral part of the development of schizophrenia in a significant sub-group of cases [51], and anxiety (although unspecific) is the most common symptom in schizophrenia. One may therefore speculate that there is a common neurophysiological trait or state in these disorders that is reflected by an increase in percent total time in microstates of class A.
