Text

(2018), separately for mother and father figures, the scores were standardized and averaged across the two items to create variables representing closeness with mother and closeness with father. Because the HE subsection specifically focuses on the adolescent years of 12–17, for participants with multiple assessments from follow-up sessions of the COGA Prospective study, HE data from their C-SSAGA assessment gathered at or closest to age 17 were used. For participants who entered the prospective study between ages 18 and 22, the HE data from their very first SSAGA assessment were used.
