Accuracy of results was inferred if the assayed ethanol concentrations from quality control ethanol standards varied by no more than 10% from actual concentrations. All quality control standards met this criterion. If sufficient homogenate was available, each sample was tested in duplicate and a mean of the two values was used in subsequent calculations. Each ethanol concentration data point represents a mean (±SEM) generated from three independent samples.
