As detailed in the previously published review based on the GBD 2000 project [1], alcohol consumption has been shown to have a causal impact on different forms of injury, both unintentional and intentional. In the present review, we focus on two additional issues: whether there is evidence of a causal relationship between alcohol and injury for all categories of injury, and how best to estimate AAFs for each injury outcome. Table 5 provides an overview of the GBD 2005 categories for injury.
