Chunk #44 — Online Methods — Genome-wide survival association study datasets — (4) Cohorts for Heart and Aging Research in Genomic Epidemiology (CHARGE)
The AD sample for this study included all prevalent cases identified in 1992 and incident events identified between 1992 and December 20063. Briefly, persons were examined annually from enrollment to 1999. The examination included a 30 minute screening cognitive battery. In 1992–94 and again, in 1997–99, participants were invited to undergo brain MRI and detailed cognitive and neurological assessment as part of the CHS Cognition Study. Persons with prevalent dementia were identified, and all others were followed until 1999 for the development of incident dementia and AD. Since then, CHS participants at the Maryland and Pennsylvania centers have remained under ongoing dementia surveillance53.
