Among African American youth (Table 3), female sex was associated with an elevated likelihood of experiencing sexual assault and with reduced odds of experiencing physical assault and witnessed violence. Offspring whose mothers only were affected with AUD had significantly elevated likelihood of sexual assault, at approximately twice that of their counterparts without an affected parent. Dual-parent AUD was also associated with increased odds of witnessed violence. Parental AUD status was not related to physical assault or non-assaultive trauma.
