the mean ages were 63.4 ±3 years (HBCS) and 68.5 ±17 years (BSA). The allele effects in these cohorts were in the same direction as the original association in LBC1936: the unstandardised regression coefficient was −.67 in the older cohort replication meta-analysis versus −.93 in the LBC1936 cohort (the A allele relating to lower agreeableness scores). For psychological distress measures there were no significant associations in the LBC1921 cohort, p > 0.18.
