Text

Binge drinking is most common among adolescents and young adults. Studies on adolescents suggest that binge drinking, and heavy alcohol use are associated with poor cognitive functioning on a broad range of neuropsychological assessments, including learning, psychomotor speed, attention, executive functioning, and impulsivity (Lees et al., 2020). In the COGA Prospective study, binge drinking is operationalized as the maximum number of drinks consumed within a 24-h period. Because subjects had data from multiple follow-up assessments, the maximum number of drinks consumed during any 24-h period across multiple assessments was used.
